Is outsourcing good or bad for developing countries like India and Mexico?

Posted on 23 May 2010 by BPO

I know that it can help their economy, create jobs, etc… But it can’t be so easy can it? I’m mainly wondering if there’s bad things for countries like Mexico or India by taking these outsourced jobs?

FIRST WHAT IS THE REASON FOR OUTSOURCING?

CAUSE THE PEOPLE IN INDIA ETC ARE PAID LOWER WAGES THAN THE PEOPLE HERE, IF WE WERE TO ACCEPT WAGES LIKE IN INDIA ETC THE JOBS WILL BE HERE… JUST THAT WE WONT BE ABLE TO KEEP THE HIGH LIFE STANDARDS….

LAST YEAR I READ AN ARTICLE WHICH SAID THAT SOME IN INDIA ARE OUTSOURCING TOO!
BUT INSIDE INDIA, LIKE FROM BANGLORE TO OTHER LESSER DEVELOPED PARTS IN INDIA!

BY 2050 INDI IS PREDICTED TO BE THE 2ND OR EVER THE 3RD LARGEST ECONOMY IN THE WORLD! AND MEXICO UNDER TOP 6!!!

    WITH UK ON 7
    GERMANY 8
    FRANCE 9
    ETC….

THAT GONNA BE A WORLD UPSDIE DOWN…

It’s good for them, because giving them jobs means more opportunity and money for them, so they’ll hae a better life. It’s good for the developed countries too, because things get cheaper.

This is a tricky question to answer. Outsourcing helps create better jobs for developing nations and the bad part is, local employment needs rise as they are losing people. Since outsourcing can offer a better income, many highly skilled employees are tempted to resign and apply for these jobs. Local businesses can rarely compete with the rate their ex-workers are offered. Another bad thing is on a cultural level. For example, the growth of call centers mean learning new techniques, skills, and even new language/culture. In the long run, workers can lose their sense of national identity as they work for foreign firms.

Its good. At least people there can put food on their plates everyday. Otherwise, they’d be doomed!

I think it depends on the economic strategic plan of the country, some activities are so undervalued taht nobody is willing to do it or either so specialized that we lack people with specific abilities. Here in Mexico we outsource many services like financial services to the US and even when we had a problem with petroleum processing (being a big petroleum producer) we sent petroleum to process to Channey (Chennai) India.
